First steps for new owners: structure discussions with an attorney where needed, EIN, registrations and bookkeeping setup.
This part of our work is built for people rather than companies. You may be at a turning point in how you earn: taking on 1099 work, building a side business, or leaving a job to start something of your own. We prepare income tax returns for individuals and families, including 1099 and self-employment income, and help you understand what those changes mean for your filing.
If you are ready to start a business, we can help you write a business plan that tests whether the idea works on paper, then walk through the first steps of getting set up. That includes thinking through a structure with an attorney where needed, obtaining an EIN, completing registrations and setting up your books from day one. Getting these basics right early saves a good deal of untangling later.
Proactive Strategies, Inc. is an Atlanta financial and business consulting firm, not a CPA firm or law firm. We try to be personalized, accurate and practical, and we start with a free consultation by phone, online or by appointment. You can ask your questions and find out what would help before making any commitment. Tax and personal documents should never come through the website form or email.

Our approach
Listen first
We ask what has changed in your work and household, and what you hope to figure out.
Explain your options
We lay out what applies to you in everyday language, including what we do not handle.
Make a simple list
You get a clear list of what to gather and when it is needed.
Do the careful work
We prepare your return, plan or setup from real information and check it against your records.
Leave you organized
You finish with a clean file and a good sense of what comes next.
In Georgia
Georgians generally file with the Georgia Department of Revenue in addition to the IRS, and new owners may register with the Georgia Secretary of State and obtain a local business license. We serve metro Atlanta and south metro communities and help you keep these state and local steps straight.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Have a question that is not answered here? Book a consultation and ask us directly.
Can you help me with both my personal return and a new business?
Yes. People starting something often need both, since a new business usually changes how your personal tax return looks. We can prepare your 1040 and help set up the business side, so your records stay separate from day one and each part supports the other.
Is the first consultation for individuals really at no charge?
Yes, we offer a free consultation. You can ask questions and describe your situation by phone, online or by appointment. If it turns out you need help, we explain how the work would be priced, which can be hourly or by project, before you decide anything.
What should I have ready before talking with you?
A general idea of your situation is enough: how you earn, what has changed lately, and what you hope to accomplish. Please hold on to the actual paperwork for now. After your consultation we will explain how to share documents securely, and what to gather first.
Do you offer investment or retirement advice to individuals?
No. We do not provide investment advice, financial planning, health plans or retirement plans. Our individual services focus on income tax returns, business plans and getting a new business started. If you need help in those other areas, we suggest finding an appropriate professional of your own choosing.
I only have an idea for a business. Is it too early to reach out?
Not at all. Early conversations can save you time and money, since it is much simpler to set things up properly than to correct them later. We can talk through the idea, what starting would involve, and whether a business plan is a sensible next step.
