Bookkeeping Services for Atlanta Small Businesses
A shoebox of receipts and an unreconciled bank account make every business decision harder. We keep your books current and accurate, so you can see what came in, what went out and what is still owed.
Our bookkeeping covers the everyday financial record of your company. We track income and expenses, post journal entries, and maintain your general ledger and chart of accounts. We also keep accounts payable and accounts receivable up to date, so you know which bills are coming due and which customers still owe you. Each month, we reconcile bank and credit card accounts to the actual statements.
From there, we prepare your financial statements and manage your QuickBooks file. If your books have fallen behind, we start with a cleanup: sorting uncategorized transactions, fixing accounts that were set up in a confusing way, and tracing balances that never quite tied out. A chart of accounts should fit your business. A retail store, a medical practice and a small manufacturer need to see different categories.
Good books also make everything else easier. Tax preparation goes faster, payroll ties out, and a bank conversation starts with real figures. We have experience with retail, healthcare, technology, manufacturing and small businesses, and we keep our explanations simple. When we find something unusual, we ask you about it instead of guessing, and we note the answer so the same question does not come up again.

How Proactive Strategies helps
Review your current books
We look at your QuickBooks file or records, your accounts and how far behind things have fallen.
Clean up and set the structure
We correct errors and shape a chart of accounts that fits how your company earns and spends.
Record and reconcile monthly
Transactions are categorized, payables and receivables updated, and each account reconciled to its statement.
Deliver your statements
You receive your financial statements on a set schedule, along with any questions we need answered.
Talk through what changed
We point out anything unusual so small problems get attention before they grow.
In Georgia
Georgia sellers usually collect sales tax that belongs to the state and local governments, and the local portion differs by county. We record that money separately from your income, so the amounts due on your Georgia sales and use tax filing are easy to find and do not get mistaken for spending money.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Have a question that is not answered here? Book a consultation and ask us directly.
How far behind can my books be before you can help?
We can work from wherever you are, whether that means one messy month or more than a year of missing entries. We start by gathering bank and credit card statements for the period, then rebuild the records in order. The cleanup scope gets discussed before work begins.
Do I have to use QuickBooks for bookkeeping?
QuickBooks is the system we manage most often, and it suits many small businesses. If you are using something else or only a spreadsheet, tell us during your consultation. We will look at what you have and talk through whether staying put or moving makes more sense.
What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?
Bookkeeping is the steady daily and monthly recording of transactions, such as entries, reconciliations and invoices. Accounting uses those records to analyze results, prepare reports and support decisions. In practice they overlap heavily, and neither works well if the underlying transactions are incomplete or sorted into the wrong categories.
What does a bank reconciliation actually catch?
It compares your books to the bank's record, line by line. That can reveal duplicate entries, missed deposits, forgotten subscriptions, checks that never cleared and charges you did not expect. Doing this every month keeps problems small and gives you confidence that your cash balance is real.
How do I get receipts and statements to you safely?
Please do not send financial or personal documents through the website form or email. After your consultation we will explain how to share documents securely. We will also give you a simple list of what we need each month, so the routine takes little of your time.
