Financial and Business Consulting Around Metro Atlanta
Proactive Strategies, Inc. is based in Atlanta and works with owners and households on the south side of the metro area and beyond, by phone, online or by appointment.
From the logistics corridors along I-75 and I-85 to the courthouse squares of Newnan, McDonough and Griffin, each community around Atlanta has its own way of doing business. An airport-area contractor, a family restaurant in Gwinnett and a film vendor in Fayette County all need different things from their books, even if the basics look alike.
These pages describe each place in general terms and how our services can help local owners and households. Pick your county or city below to read more.

Local details worth knowing
What can change from one address to the next
Business licenses and local registration
City limits often determine which office issues your business license, and neighboring addresses can fall under different governments. State-level registrations with the Georgia Secretary of State and Department of Revenue work the same way everywhere in Georgia. Our business starter services help new owners sort out which offices apply.
Local economies and your books
Race weekends in Hampton, production schedules around Fayetteville and freight seasons near the airport all create uneven income. What you need from your bookkeeping and reports depends on those patterns, and our financial reporting and analytics work is built around them.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Have a question that is not answered here? Book a consultation and ask us directly.
Do I have to travel to Atlanta to work with you?
No. Most conversations happen by phone or online, and in-person meetings are available by appointment. Books, reports and tax paperwork can usually be handled the same way whether you are in Griffin, Lawrenceville or anywhere in between. We will talk through what works for you during your free consultation and agree on how we will stay in touch.
My business is in a small town. Can you still help?
Yes. Bookkeeping, payroll, reporting, process work and coaching do not depend on the size of your town. Small communities often have a lot of owner-run companies with the same needs as bigger firms, just fewer people to handle them. Where local rules matter, such as your business license, we help you identify the right office.
Who issues a business license in Georgia?
It depends on where your business is located. A business inside city limits usually gets its license, sometimes called an occupation tax certificate, from the city, and one in an unincorporated area usually gets it from the county. Georgia state registrations apply on top of that. Your mailing address may not settle the question, so confirm it with the local government.
Do you only work in the counties listed here?
These are the communities we focus on, but we can talk with people elsewhere in Georgia as well, since consultations by phone and online work well from anywhere in the state. Book a consultation and tell us where you are and what you need, and we will let you know whether we are able to help.
